This policy explains what areweup.ca ("we", "us") collects, why, and how you can control it. Whyle Labs Inc. is responsible for the personal information under its control. We aim to comply with Canada's PIPEDA.
| Data | Why |
|---|---|
| Email address | Sign-in verification codes, account recovery, necessary communication, and any alert notifications you configure. |
| Passkey public key | Passwordless sign-in (WebAuthn). This is a public key, not a secret - it can't be used to impersonate you on its own. |
| Probe configuration | The endpoints and settings you choose to monitor. |
| Probe results | Latency/success history for your own Probes, so we can show trends and trigger alerts. |
| IP address | Rate-limiting sign-in attempts and protecting the Service against abuse. |
We limit the personal information we collect to what is reasonably necessary for the purposes described in this policy. We don't run third-party analytics or advertising trackers on this site.
We use personal information only for the purposes described in this policy, including providing and securing the Service, authenticating your account, running your Probes, sending the notifications you configure, preventing abuse, providing customer support, and complying with legal obligations.
We may also use aggregated or de-identified information derived from use of the Service to understand usage patterns, measure performance and reliability, develop and improve the Service, and analyze trends. This information is processed so that it does not identify individual users or accounts.
We will not use your personal information for a new purpose without obtaining additional consent where required by applicable law.
By creating an account or otherwise providing personal information to us, you consent to its collection, use, and disclosure as described in this policy, subject to applicable law.
You may withdraw consent to certain uses of your personal information at any time, subject to legal or contractual restrictions and reasonable notice. Withdrawing consent may prevent us from providing certain features of the Service.
Account and Probe data is stored on infrastructure hosted in Canada, which is also where we operate our servers. Some service providers we use may process personal information outside Canada, as described below. If our primary hosting location changes, we'll update this section.
We use service providers to operate the Service, including Amazon to deliver verification codes and alert emails and OVH to host the Service. These providers receive only the information reasonably necessary to provide their services and are required to protect it and use it only for the services they provide to us.
We may also disclose personal information where required or permitted by law, including to comply with legal process or to protect the rights, safety, and security of the Service, our users, or others.
We retain personal information only for as long as reasonably necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected, provide the Service, comply with legal and accounting obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
Probe result history is kept for a minimum of 45 days before it becomes eligible for automatic deletion. When you delete your account, we delete your Probes, results, notification settings, and passkeys from our active systems. Certain information may be retained where required or permitted by law.
You can see and export your account data, and delete your account, at any time from the app. You may also request access to personal information we hold about you that is not already available through the Service, and request that inaccurate or incomplete information be corrected.
If you're in the EU/UK or Canada, you may also have additional rights under GDPR or PIPEDA respectively. Contact us using the details below to exercise these rights or to ask questions about how we handle your personal information.
If you have a concern or complaint about our handling of your personal information, please contact our Privacy Officer (Kyle Loveless) using the details below. We will investigate and respond to privacy complaints within a reasonable period.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you may contact the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada.
We may update this policy as the Service evolves. Material changes will be posted here with an updated date. Where required by law, we will notify you or obtain additional consent before applying a material change to how we use your personal information.
